If you'd like to own the Dairy Queen shirt Martina McBride wore for a recent In Style magazine photo shoot, it's yours for the right price. Martina and many other country stars donated clothes and other personal items for two Ebay auctions in October, benefiting the Celebrity Rags 4 Charity Riches organization, which raises money for various charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Save The Children, United Cerebral Palsy and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. The first auction is Oct. 16-23, and the second is Oct 23-30, which will soley benefit The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development. Other artists donating items include Alan Jackson, Gretchen Wilson, Naomi Judd, Buddy Jewell and Joe Nichols. For a complete list of artists and more info, go to rags4riches.org.

MARTINA MCBRIDE'S CONTRIBUTION to Oprah's "World's Largest Baby Shower" was, "In My Daughter's Eyes," and the song brought many of the women to tears. Martina's song about motherhood was illustrated with a backdrop of video clips of Martina playing with her two young daughters as well as footage of military personnel with their children.

This is Martina's first appearance on the award winning talk show so she was anxious to meet the most popular woman in broadcast history. Backstage the two did have a chance to visit and talk about the great event. After parting, Martina couldn't let the opportunity slip by and walked back over to Oprah for one last mention. "I don't mean to be a geek or anything," explained Martina, "but I just have to tell you what an inspiration you've been for me."

The episode is set to air on Oct. 11th. Check local listings for time and channel.

Martina McBride is one of four artists chosen to play at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 15 for a concert sponsored by WLTW-FM, New York City's highest-rated radio station. She'll be joined by Celine Dion (making her first U.S. appearance outside of Las Vegas in three years), Josh Groban and Five for Fighting. McBride's "This One's for the Girls" spent seven weeks on Billboard's adult contemporary chart, and "In My Daughter's Eyes" has earned significant AC airplay, as well. WLTW (106.7 Lite FM) is an AC station.
Mcbride Chooses Medicine Lodge for playground
 The Gyp Hill Premiere

Thanks to the efforts of country music star Martina McBride, the City will receive a new playground this spring, according to an announcement by Mayor Steve Etheridge.

The new playground, which will be located in the City Park, is a result of McBride’s humanitarian efforts.

"This is very exciting and I think it will be a great project and a lot of fun for the community," said Etheridge. "We can’t begin to express our thanks to Martina."

In recognition of her success as a musician and humanitarian, McBride was the 2004 recipient of the coveted ACMA/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award. The award allowed her to choose a community for a playground built in her honor.

The building of the new playground will be made possible through the efforts and partnership of The Home Depot and KaBOOM!. It will be constructed in one day by volunteers from both the KaBOOM! organization and the City, according to Etheridge.

Etheridge said that construction is tentatively planned for March, adding that it will take about eight to ten weeks of preparation to prepare for the build.

"We will need approximately 100 volunteers from the community to work with the engineers and the volunteers," said Etheridge.

"Initially, the project managers will meet with the children of the community and the parents to find out what they want their playground to be," said Etheridge.

"Then, the engineers will draw up three plans from which the citizens will chose the one they want to build," he said.

Some preparation of the site will occur prior to the build day, when construction is scheduled to start at sunup and end at sundown.

"We were told that the playground equipment would be supplied by PlayWorld Systems and is made of metal and plastic," said Etheridge. "Surfacing material will be engineered wood-fiber."

The design may also include picnic tables and benches.

According to Etheridge, the City will need at least eight adult volunteers to run seven or eight committees.

The volunteers will also need to devote a considerable amount of time each week of the planning stage, assuming responsibility for the progress of the committees’ assignments.

"We will need 50-75 volunteers for the day of the build," said Etheridge.
